Musical Enlightenment

Let’s see a show of hands out there on this question: How many of you Boomers thought (like I) that there is no good music being made, because everything is RAP? I thought so. Even the Rappers are remixing and remaking old tunes.

I had fallen into the musically world of my iPod to get my music the last couple of years. Sure I heard some Alternative music that I liked, but, I never really delved into exploring music (shutting myself out hoping the RAP would go away).

But, a nudge in the right direction, wham, and a metamorphosis has taken place! I am back! Listening, searching, and finding some pretty good music out there. There is “more than RAP”! How did this come about you might ask? Some prodding, poking, and downright luck is the answer to that question.

The prodding and poking came from two sources: A Pop Culture Punk whose blog entitled moljunior had some interesting things to say about today’s (Gen X & Y and Boomers, too) music makers from time to time (oft times he just talks about his mundane and cheap lifestyle). While my musical taste is obviously not as sophisticated (he would think), he did prompt me to check out some artists that I might not have necessarily. My second source was “The Professor” or R. S. who to almost divert his attention from his complicated life would email me tunes (from some secret source, ;) ) at all hours of the night. By some miracle of the digital gods I am been able to upload these tunes into my iPod. That was, of course, before some slack ass Gen X geek @ Apple found a way to kick them out.

Now, under the “downright good luck” section, I have, with the expansion of the High Definition Tier of my local Cable contractor found a couple of stations MHD (Music: High Definition) channel and TMCHD The Music Channel High Definition. Voila! Both these channels show music videos, music festivals, and concerts. Some “big” name acts, some “obscure” acts, and some middle of the road. Check your local listings for these channels. I highly recommend them.

Bottom line on all this has been the fact that I have discovered “new” (to me) groups and tunes to add to my iPOD for the enjoyment of myself and the Mrs.

Pan Perdue

a.k.a. Lost Bread, a.k.a. French Toast with a little different twist...........

Recipe:

3 Eggs

1/3 Cup of Milk

1 Tbls. Vanilla

1 Tbls. Cinnamon

Pinch of Nutmeg

Whisk together in a square casserole

Now take the key ingredient: Bread or stale bread, check that, the Twist is you use a ..............drum roll please................................................................................Hamburger Bun.

Let it soak up the liquid on both sides till its almost falling apart.

Fry on a griddle or in a frying pan with butter until brown on both sides.

Serve with a pat of butter on each piece, syrup, and confectionary sugar.

Heaven on a Bun!
