It was a bad news business day today for The Professor.
People cannot be truthful anymore.
Can someone please tell it like it is?
Nope, not gonna happen, not it business.
At frustrating times like these, I go back to one of the inevitable truths of business.
What goes around comes around!!
Viva The Professor
Peace upon you.

Rib Room to Subway in Five Years.
So my wonderful wife was questioning significant parts of her like in particular the apparent tumble as it relates to how she rate's on Valentine's Day. You see our first Valentine's Day outing was to the Rib Room in the Omni Royal Orleans and now a scant five years later (married) we are at home with Subway sandwiches. What had caused this obvious fall from grace?
Now wait a minute....before everyone starts feeling sorry for Cindy.....I can explain. A girls basketball playoff game was scheduled for 7pm on Valentine's Day evening and I answered the call to do the play by play. Previous plans to go to Cafe Lynn were postponed until Friday.
The good news was that Miss Susan and his "Lloydness" were able to join us for our repast. Since they were originally scheduled to join us on Thursday we were able to replay the V. D. a day later.
Once you get inside Cafe Lynn the Burger King shaped outside disappears and you are transported into a nice cozy cafe. Without looking outside you could be just about anywhere in the world.
The food was, as I have previously reported here, and now verified by Lloyd, top notch.
For Apps we all shared - Crabcakes, Friend Eggplant Fingers, and Eggplant something or other (friend eggplant topped with creamy seafood sauce).
Entrees were split by both couples - Cindy and I had the pan seared drum with lemon butter sauce, mashed potatoes, and green beans. Susan and Lloyd went with the baked drum with herbs, breadcrumbs, and tomatoes.
Susan and Lloyd had dessert - it was a brownie, ice cream, and homemade chocolate sauce. Assessing the dessert would be easy...............nothing left on the plate.
What a wonderful celebration with friends. It didn't hurt that the libations were "spot on", either. Treasure the moments like these in your life.
Peace Upon You

Viva Subway Cindy - I am hoping you don't try to get the hook up with Jared.

the inevitability of it all......life
The inevitability of one's inevitability rears its ugly head when someone close to us passes on. My friend and co-worker Karen suddenly and unexpectedly lost the love of her life last night.
Its unexplaniable and yet it happens everyday. But, mostly to those we do not know.
This time it took Paul, loving husband, loving father, horticulturist extraordinare, teacher, father figure to many of his students, chef and all around good guy from us. Karen hurts, the family hurts, and we hurt.
We pause to reflect at times like these.........do we have all our affairs in order? We should remember to hug those that you love and tell them that everytime. And a bunch of other things that make us wary of our own mortality.
I don't know who the big timekeeper in the sky is......but......he is the one that will punch our clock.......I am hoping it ain't too soon for me or my friends.
In case I forget to say this recently.........I love you Cindy and Sarah, Grammy and Fran. All the members of my family and Cindy's family. I love you all my peeps, friends and readers. Make the BEST of the rest of your days here and with me.
Peace Upon You

Bed Snobs & Broomsticks
OK, no broomsticks, but, after a lengthy discussion Cindy and I are officially announcing that we are Bed Snobs!
How did this come to be? It was harmless enough, what seemed like idle chatter with Paulie became a better understanding of the material upon which one sleeps. Who knew that thread count was important? Sure there was the fact that 400 thread count beats the hell out of the rough 200 or 210, but, who knew that 800 and 1,000 was even better? I mean, we do spend about 1/3 of our life in BED. Why not make it a pleasant experience, like, everyday. So once we had the right sheets, it was time to get the right BED. Enter his Lloydness!
Not only did Lloyd "Big Box" Spring provided the right mattress (think visco elastic foam topper....aka Temperpedic), he reached out into the mammoth world of furniture and brought in the BED, too. We were building on the theme, but, yet, there was one thing missing.
Aha, the bedspread! It had to be crisp, clean, sleek, and made from damn expensive Italian cotton. Actually, it didn't "have to be made" from damn Italian cotton, it just so happens that the one we found at Restoration Hardware (aka Expensive As Shit Store) was the one we felt measured up to our standards.
The result of all this is that we love getting into our bed.
The downside is that we have found ourselves quite critical of the bedding at the hotels were we have stayed. This kind of bed snobbery can be quite a shame! For now, it will just have to be something we and you live with....
