Weekend's eating..............The Yin

The Camellia Grill - Carrolton at St. Charles, NOLA

Chocolate Freeze - Ice Cream, Ice, Milk, Chocolate Syrup, Malt

Bacon Cheeseburger - Dressed (lettuce & tomato)
Yes, greasy, got a problem with that?

French Fries - Yes, hot out of the fryer!
Yes, greasy, you also got a problem with that?
Cindy and I made not one, but, two midnight trips to Camellia Grill. Obviously the first trip spurned a repeat the following night. As she was slurping down her Chocolate Freeze on the second go round......Quote of the trip by Cindy........"Good thing we live on the other side of the Lake."
Seedy, yes. Divelike, yes. Dinerlike, yes. Eceletic customers, yes. A "must go there" place, yes.
We did not even have a chance to delve into the griddle warmed pecan or apple pie. Or participate in breakfast treats like the chili cheese omelet or the waffle.
My mouth is watering, ya hear!! Can't wait for a return engagement.

Big Dividends.....Bank on it!

First Guaranty Bank of Hammond opened its doors (Suite doors, that is) and allowed us (Big Dave, Rick, Randall and I) in to enjoy the Grand Opening of the Box Suites at Southeastern's Strawberry Stadium in Hammond.

On behalf of the Tom Sharp Memorial Fund, we were able (due to the hard work of Randy Tricou, Lloyd Spring, Big Dave, and others) to present Interim President (hope the interim goes away soon) Dr. John Crain with a $12,000 check to be used for scholarships.

Suite Review: Very, Very Classy! After all, its FGB!

Many thanks to Mike Sharp, Larry, Bernadette/Jim Kemp and the rest of the FGB staff for their hospitality and welcoming style. Memo to Mike Sharp: Miss Bernadette is GREAT!

Of course, I must throw in a food report: The gumbo (pictured) hit Outstanding on the Edwards Scale! Brownies and Cake were awesome. Libations (although I was on a limit) were like the company.........GREAT.

Magical Night for us!

Thanks FGB

Viva Larry, Bernandette, Jim and the rest of the FGB staff

Outlook Overload

Please view the video intro first and then imagine that Rod is still talking when you are read this.
Heed the warning all you OCD’ers. Yes, you who are managed by the time, day, month, year, and your Microsoft Outlook Suite. Yee, who may be controlled by the schedule, schedule, and the schedule. You believe that your life is nothing but a series of events that fit neatly along a timeline. It is all about the routine, routine, and the routine., isn’t it? You know who you are……take heed and take warning……..”That that controls you only serves to mess you up in the end.” Bill Gates.
Consider the saga of one Michael Huey Dubois, one who is a aforementioned (controlled by his Outlook Suite) OCD’er (aka Outlook Controlled Demon, but, really Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) stuck in that vortex of time when he travels out with his woman (putting her through hell) for 10 hours (575 miles give or take a couple) from Houston, Texas to Destin, Florida.
He is in Destin for an important business meeting on the company’s dime. He settles in to enjoy Labor Day after his nightmarish travel through the winds, rain, and saga of Hurricane Gustav only to find out that his Outlook Calendar has let him down…..you see…..the meeting isn’t till next week. Some would fault Outlook, some would say he is a dumbass, I on the other hand, prefer to say that he is incredibly ate up with his new woman and has lost all sight of time and day.
Dube is forced to return home (10 hours, 575 miles, remember) to complete the week’s work only to come back, next week.
Sounds like a great episode of “The Twilight Zone”.

Mike's Diner.....Panama City Beach, FLA

Evacuation Food:
In our usual "make the best out of a bad situation" mode and on the advice of CJ (she has had about 20 plus years of Labor Days relaxation in the area) we ventured across Front Beach Road for Breakfast at Mike's Diner.
Primo Breakfast stuff......CJ had scrambled eggs, bacon, hash browns and toast, or at least she had about half of it (I helped her with the other half)....yours truly went with the Banana Pancake and sausage patties......Excellent stuff. Mike's gets many Gold Stars.
