Serious Sandwiches

On the way over to Hammond to return my tux from the wedding.......talked the wonderful wife into driving across town to Muffaletta's Deli run by the world renown Jason Baglio (a former student of mine and all round good guy). Word was out.....Keith Carona leaked it.....that Jason has got a nice place....but, more importantly........delicious sandwiches.

After catching up with JBag he hooked us up with a half of a roast beef po-boy and half of a meatball po-boy.......First up the Roast Beef......very tender and delicious.......followed up by the BEST MEATBALL PO-BOY ever, did you read that? EVER. The red gravy or red sauce (however you say it) had a nice sweetness to it and combine that with excellent meatballs.....read all this as THE BEST EVER. The WW (not normally a red gravy person) chimed in with unsoliticed props about the red sauce.

I think ole Jason has got something there.......word is that a Muffaletta's Deli is coming nearby Mandeville.....yum, yum.......GOTTA GO GET YOU SOME.

Viva Keith
Viva Jason
Viva that serious MEATBALL Po-boy.
Peace Upon You.

Media Man

How does a Computer (what the hell are computers back in ‘66?) student at Delgado Junior College become a IBM key punch operator at Perpetual Federal Credit Union (Washington, D. C.) and then become a Student at SLU and graduate to get a job as an Inventory clerk with the Greater Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company aka A & P and get woke up by Henry W. "Chic" Thompson to go take a job as a Boarding agent/Asst. Operations Mgr. at Dalton Steamship Corp. (NOLA) and then tire from the stress of that job to go to Hammond and sign on as a Science teacher at VFA and then be awakened on a Saturday morning by a young, wide eyed football coach (Salvador "Donald" Currier) and signed on with him to be an Asst. FB Coach and teacher at WHS (Amite, LA) and then returned to NOLA to find a job as a Payroll clerk for the U. S. G.S. and then moved over to another branch of government as a Deputy Clerk of Court where he got a phone call one morning from Charles V. Baglio, Jr. aka Coach "Bags" to come join him as a Head Basketball Coach, Asst. FB Coach and Teacher at IHS where things were good for a long time and then Coach Bill Stubbs phoned him with an opportunity and I signed on as a Itinerant P. E. Teacher, LOM School and Asst. FB Coach, Asst. Track Coach, Asst. Baseball Coach at SHS and continued coaching as an Asst. FB, J. V. Soccer, Asst. Track Coach at FHS, Asst. FB, Asst. Track Coach at CHS and eventullay promoted to Assistant Principal, BJH School.......... just how does that person become Media Man?

Reflection is a good thing, every once in awhile, except when it confuses you.

Message for the day: "If you have surrounded yourself with good friends, your life will be rich!"

The Beatles knew it: "I get by with a little help from my friends."

Viva My friends
May he RIP Henry "Chic" Thompson

Political Suicide - Dollar Bill

Don't you just want to SCREAM? Every Candidate that ran had something wrong with them that you should hold against them and not elect them! Just ask their opponent!
Name a Candidate (anyone of them) the ads say that they have had a lawsuit filed against them, failed to pay some debt they owed, kicked their sister out and stole her money, fooled around with other women or men (and it could be gay, "not that there is anything wrong with that"), voted against something or for something that will bring down Social Security or increase Taxes, or sides with the Republicans or the Democrats. Give me a freaking break. Seriously now, everyone that ran had some kind of attack ad against them.

Now through it all there is only one tried and true way I can see of getting elected..............it has to do with having $90,000 in bills in your freezer.

SO, with that in mind and to my way of thinking.....process of elimination....all Politicians are CROOKS.

Viva The Common Man.....Yes, the Common Man....taxed out his wazoo......you know the one every Politician is going to help.....but, they never seem to get it? Go Figure.

Peace Upon You

"I could eat there, everyday!"

Funny Name.....Serious Sandwiches

The Professor and I would use the saying posted in the title when referring specifically to Schlotzsky's Deli. A place we frequented often in Slidell pre-K (Katrina, for you non-Louisianians, it disappeared for good after that event).

Records show that we had at least 40 visits in two years (1999 & 2000), truth be known, had it been closer to school then that number may have quadrupled, hence the title of today's blog. But, it was way across town and a problem to get to at times!

Average cost of a meal $5.62 which was a sandwich, chips, and ice tea.

Where can you get anything that good for that price these days?

Lunches these days seem to be in range of $12-15 dollars or more.

Where are the good, cheap lunches? Help me out!
Certainly some of you know of good place to eat....that's reasonably priced?
Weigh in with your favorites.
Help a brother out.
